Honoring Leadership Style Makes a Difference Many books I read about leadership in the early 80s stressed the importance of Leaders matching the thinking and communication styles of their various employees instead of expecting ALL THEIR EMPLOYEES to match their Leader's style. The challenge for the Leader is to be extremely flexible when working individually with their various employees and consistently when working with all the employees in larger groups or meetings. How to do yourself yet flexible when necessary is one trait that many authors wrote about being important to necessary. Books about teaching shared the same message Books about sales did as well. Leading with a little “l”  F or over 50 years in the United States one of the key issues in business, industry, government, in fact, all workplaces has been the change from boss to manager to leader.  Many writers and researchers including John Gardner and Warren Bennis have tried to define and explain the differences among the three.  During the past 30 to 40 years the emphasis has been particularly on the movement or switch from managing to leading. The result of all the interest, research and writing has been the development of extensive training programs on Leadership, Leadership Skills and Leadership Styles. Organizations have spent millions of dollars on this training. Welcome to my new BLOG focused on helping you develop skills of leading in your workplace, whether business, education or government. My background in teaching people about Leading Skills and Styles. In 1980 the late Walt Denero, founder of the J.W. Fanning Leadership Institute at the University of Georgia asked me to be a speaker for two Leadership Programs in Georgia. Leadership Rome Leadership Cartersville I did a 3 hour session on how to develop creative thinking in your people as a Community Leader. 8 years later I looked back and realized that Walt had begun a career for me in Leadership Development.
